*** World Championships // Team Bigla wins Bronze ***
The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team put on another stellar performance to win the bronze medal at the UCI Road World Championships. The medal in Bergen is the second one in a row in the team time trial championships after Doha last year. The team navigated the 42.5-kilometre course in 56 minutes and 9 seconds, only 28 seconds slower than winners Team Sunweb. “I’m very proud of this team,” team manager, Thomas Campana said. “It’s a development and evolution of the team from last year. Last year we had more than a one-minute delay on the world champions and this year we were leading the race for almost two thirds of the distance - what a great improvement. If you consider the age of the team, we have a golden generation here.” Team leader, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio shared Campana’s sentiments.
“Today went smooth. That’s what we were aiming for. It was a really tough course so it’s about finding the balance between going fast but not pushing it over the edge. I think we did a smooth run. Of course we have the same medal as last year and would have liked better but the positive is we’re that much closer now. Last year the gap to the gold medal was a lot bigger and every year we’re just getting closer. We have a really young team so I think we can be proud of our effort today,” Moolman-Pasio said.
